OK, I bought an NEC LCD1550V monitor. For $350, I think its a nice deal, I'm very pleased with the picture.
Out of the box, I can see that I have only one very flaky pixel. Its in the upper right corner of the screen. I really didn't even notice it til today when I thought it was dust and couldn't clean it. The monitor is brand new (had 3 days) and I could go to the hassle of returning it for this lone pixel, but is it worth it? I mean, I understand most LCD companies have a "tolerance level" for dead pixels and should I just count myself lucky that I have just the one dead pixel? I guess I would be more picky if this was a $1200 18" monitor, but its not.
Opinions please. What are your own "out of box" experiences?
hehe, i have a dead pixel on my regular monitor, you know not lcd, anyway if your happy with the monitor then dont change it, i havenot notice any dead pixel on my screen(samsung 170t) but if there was just 1 i would not care, but if its more then 3 i might want to get a new one
Playing with it some more, its not a black spot so I don't even think its dead per se. The color is just slightly off so I think one of the sub-pixels is a little flaky.
Its weird, looking at it from different angles it appears that its definitely not a dead pixel at all, but something behind it, maybe a piece of material on the backlight, yet about as small as a pixel.......
