Need help building my new computer

I'm building a new computer. It's going to be a media center/gaming rig. I would like to keep it in my room. This is the first computer I'm building so I have 2 main questions:

- Is everything compatible/fits in the case?

- Is each product the best performance wise and price wise?

My limit was $2000, and I'm alot higher than that, so if you have any suggestions, please try to make sure they are at the set price or lower. Also, if you know ways I can lower the price but still have near equal performance, please share. I have to order it today. Here's what I got so far:

More about need building computer
  1. Lets see where do I start..

    1) Do not buy ValueSelect RAM. Its crap RAM. Find another brand like G.SKill or buy Corsair XMS. Get 2GB

    2) There is no reason in hell to buy a 7900GX2 right now. DX10 cards are coming soon, and the GX2 is vastly overpriced to begin with. Look at the X1800/1900XT instead, and spend the money with DX10 comes out.

    3) RAIDMAX is horrible. AVOID. Buy a QUALITY name brand PSU: Antec, OCZ, FCP.

    4) 750GB hard drive is a terrible value. Buy 2 320GB drives and save a lot of money.

    5) Find a better motherboard. Intel's boards offer no overclock features at all. Look at Asus.
  2. I took your advice and XMS ram, but like I said, I didn't have the money for 2GB.
I also got the X1900XTX after I checked out the VGA Charts.
I stuck with the Raidmax though, it was relatively cheap and it got good reviews on newegg.
Also, I stuck with the Intel board because I don't see myself overclocking anytime soon.

Thanks for all your help though
  3. Suit yourself. But I am telling you, you are playing with fire buying a noname garbage PSU.
  4. as shadow was sayin yer wastin money getting a 750 GB HDD

    get 2 of these
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822148140

and youll save yourself 200$ right there....then you can use that money to get a better PSU and maybe 2GB of RAM
