Is DVI better than VGA?Will it affect the gaming experience?

is it worth paying more to get a DVI-input monitor and get a graphics card with DVI output? monitor will be 19" or bigger.

No, Digital vs. Analog is the difference, and it's not noticable.

Well, monitors with DVI connections are LCDs, and I wouldn't recommend getting a CRT now, unless really tight on budget.

DVI is theoretically better than VGA.

However, as we all know;

"Theoretically there's no difference between theory and in practice... but in practice there is"

DVI tends to be easier to get a good picture - VGA can produce exactly the same good picture if you spend some time setting it up.

Not necessarily, there are a few CRTs with DVIs. Also, CRTs still have better colour reproduction and blacks than LCDs. I know a lot of graphics designers keep CRTs because they like the colour reproduction.
