3Dmark06 is used for testing the max performance out of your computer. If you don't do anything intensive then it doesn't matter. If you do a lot of hardcore gaming or other graphic applications then 3Dmark06 will show what you can do as far as pushing the limits. I would run 3Dmark05 for your computer because thats more the 'standard' for graphic applications right now. 3Dmark06 is kinda like Oblivion already, or worse.

My 3Dmark06 score: 5700ish

AMD Athlon64 x2 4200+ @ 2.6 ghz Manchester core (AC 64 Pro)
2GB (1GBx2) Apacer PC3200 DDR
Nvidia 7900GT Reference Model
72GB(36GBx2)Western Digital Raptor in RAID 0
160GB Western Digital Storage Drive
MSI K8N Diamond Plus

As you can see, I have a pretty hefty load of hardware which costed me a pretty penny...but with a low score like that I just stick to 05 :p
