Was Spider-Man good?
Input any comments you want. (there was a thread in the others section, but I thought polling people with rating is also a good idea besides comments, and btw, Spidey broke the box office record of most earning opening day EVER)

Hmm, I'd really love to get bitten by that Spider too. I'd imagine webslinging across building like that would feel like a rollercoaster. I'm in the mood for an Adrenaline rush.
Oh who told you it made that much? They are not done closing the box office yet, so Sunday isn't over everywhere! Once they do, I can't wait to see.
Anyway making 41m $ is not bad at all for opening day, being the biggest one ever!
I do recommend you see it ASAP... those who don't yeild interest in this movie, IMO should punch themselves in the mirror.... (no offense!)

It was an excellent movies, some feel-good parts for everyone with just enough humor and special affect to keep everyone into the storyline. Just one observation, was man that spider venom sure help him take a good butt wiping and keep on tickin...LOL. I really, really enjoyed the show. I'd go see it again when the crowd dies down. I will add it to my library as soon as it releases DVD, but I bet it will be in the box office for at least another 2 months.

Is it really that good? It looks like an over digitalized movie to me. Does it blend well or can you obviously tell what is digital and what isn't? The first couple of previews looked horrible, this last one on the tube looks better, but I'm still hesitant.
Some of the frames looked digitalized, but overall it was very well put together for a very close reinactment of the Marvel Comic character. If you liked the comic you will like the movie.

yep, i'm in the same boat as you. since SW episode I i don't fx filled movies anymore. because that showed, no matter how much fx work you have. a bad movie is a bad movie. and there's only a couple fx-laced movies that actually have a good story to go with it. and nowadays, you can't trust anyone, movies don't make or break on their own merits anymore. too much marketing/brainwashing now.
I was like you before I saw it. I was much having low expectations even though my friend asked me to go watch it. I was hesitant almost, because I thought the green goblin story would suck. How I was wrong.... the movie lived up more than my expectations, over 100% what I expected. I was wrong completly.
Actually Tobey Maguire was trained for 6 months to act so agile, so in fact, there were very few stunt double parts, as well as CGI made ones. Only some stand out a tad fake, but you barely notice it, Spidey is just too cool.
The thing that makes the movie stand out the most, is they made us FEEL as if there WAS a Spider-Man in real life. He was real, he wasn't showing off, it wasn't feeling animated, nor fake. It FELT there. Please, do yourself a favor, watch it, it'll be the best bucks you spent on a ticket. I never seen anyone yet who disliked the movie after they saw it, as impressive as that is.
And yes it was confirmed, Spider-Man, with 114 million, broke the world record, most earning opening weekend movie EVER made in history, including Harry Potter. THAT I never expected to happen. As well as most earning opening day, for 40 million $!
Spider-Man is the people's hero, no Marvel hero or any hero for that matter will ever be as cool as him, with his relating story and the love and friendliness he has.

When I go see Star Wars I'll probably sneak in to see Spider Man. I generally make movies an all day thing and I go and see 3 at a time. The theaters are so big that no one notices.
The dollars don't mean anything to me. Of course movies are breaking records. Why? Because ticket prices have increased dramatically in the last couple of years. As a kid I would watch movies for a few bucks, and now they're almost $9. They should do it by tickets sold, not dollars. The true winners would still be Titanic, Star Wars, and Jurassic Park then. Harry Potter had no business being on that list.
I'd like them to factor inflation and ticket prices into the records list. I'll bet that Star Wars IV is still number one.
Yes but saturday prices compared to friday ones literally are big savings. The price of friday ticket in CDN is usually 10.75$, when you go saturday it's 5.50$! I mean if most people went saturday, and it got this much, there's no doubt it did sell well. Although most go tuesday, the day money is no issue.
So you like to sneak in, as in not pay for the next movie? Shame on you!

Actually, its Gone with the Wind. By a LOT! Almost $200 mil in 1939 is an unbelievable amount! Heh, I actually did this one boring afternoon back in January. Here is the list of best selling movies, adjusted for 3% inflation (just a guess, since I don't know what inflation really was in the last 65 years).
Gone with the Wind 1,278,925,552.71
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs 1,180,517,311.80
Star Wars 937,114,031.72
E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial 701,059,679.18
Titanic 676,192,398.54
Jaws 560,713,729.56
The Empire Strikes Back 539,981,188.72
Return of the Jedi 526,313,902.09
101 Dalmatians 472,604,080.97
The Exorcist 467,640,025.50
I was surprised too, at Snow White, but man it did $178 million in 1937, staggering. And as for mister Harry Potter? You're absolutely right, he drops to number 28, lol.
Back to number 1, if you assume lower inflation, though, Star Wars moves to the top spot!

Hmm I thought the romance was really touching. But the most was with Uncle Ben, and the overall of Peter's life becoming a new world.
I think the movie is very sympathetic, it's the type where you just wonder who would hate it really!
Haven't seen it, but spidey was my childhood hero! [hihi snake on keyboard...move u raskal...hihi]
Might have to see it on video...waited too long perhaps for cinema!
