Folks, I have built and repaired systems (including some MACs) since 1988, but have never dived into the OC world until now. I have a 975XBX Intel MB with a D940 3200 processor and 2 Gig of OCZ DDR2-667 memory. The rest of the info is in my signature. I lower the memory to 533 for more headroom and increase the voltage to 2.1 on the memory. I run stress tests for an hour and Prime95 for 4 hours after each bump up in FSB. I can get to 3907 with no problems but, the system is unstable at the 4000 and above. The processor multiplier is X16 and it seems like I should be able to get over the 4000 mark no problem, but just can't make it there. I can't adjust the Vcore on intel MB and I know your going to say I should have gotten ASUS MB or another brand. There's not much info out there about intel MBs so if anyone has advice on how to break the 4000 barrier I would appreciate it. My temps are running 42-52 at 3200 and 44-55 at 3907, so it doesn't seem to be heat problems. Thanks in advance.
