In the interest of always getting the most out of money, I've created a program that finds the price and capacity
of all the hard drives on Newegg.com & NCIX.com and organizes them by best price per gigabyte for each interface type.
I'll be updating the info every two days.

*Note: The Price column includes shipping and any Mail-In Rebates or instant savings for products. This program
only takes capacity and price into account. I've been working on a way to integrate other specs of hard drives into
the equation (cache, access times, and others), but have not yet decided on the best equation.

I can make it do other websites, but the website just needs to have a pattern for its products (so I can parse the data and categorize it accordingly).

If you name a few websites I'll look into them, it may take a few weeks though to implement them. I'll try my best though.

Personally, I would put them in a different section. I have reservations about buying recertified/open box merchandise. Other people may have had luck in doing so but I have been burnt 2 out of the 3 times I've tried. I think I'm through with rolling the dice. Just my two cents.

my suggestions is look at ncix and tigerdirect for some of the canadian folks on these forums.(both the sites ship to usa)

also I would like it if you included some of the 15k scsi drives.

I agree with the others that the refurb stuff should have section of its own or at least a quick way to tell.

I just took a look at NCIX and I'm sure I can add it to the listings; it may take a week or two.

For Tigerdirect it is looking much harder to implement due to the layout of their webpage (can't view all the hard drives on one page). I'll keep thinking and trying, but I can't guarantee it will be added.

I'll include the 15k SCSI drives soon in their own section, ~1 week.

EDIT: 15,000 RPM SCSI drives have their own section.

I forgot to mention, but also look at the Dangeo site. They have a fairly simple layout that shouldnt be too hard.

I'm just curiouse, what programming language are you useing to code?

I'm using Perl currently. I had to learn it for work and it does what I want it to.

As you can see, the list is longer.
I rewrote about half the program to quickly be able to add custom sections. With the list being so long, I decided to add color to the section headings to easily differentiate.

I'm now working on incorporating NCIX and Dangeo into the list for the Canadians.

If anyone can think of other needed additions, just let me know.

I've added the section that has the results from the NCIX.com. There are red section markers for Newegg.com and for NCIX.com.
The NCIX prices are listed in Canadian Dollars. If people want, I can change it to US Dollars.

You might as well purchase a domain name and some cheap webhosting and then create a website.

Your perl script can easily output the html and upload it via FTP.

Throw in a little advertising and it will easliy pay for itself.

Probably in the future I will have my own website, but for now I prefer having it in the forum, just like Cleeve's "Best Gaming Videocards for the money".

Also in the forum people will see it more often and be helped by it, than compared to a website where traffic would be less.
