I have a Canon i860 inkjet that will print part of an 8.5" by 11" sheet
then eject the page and continue printing on a new page. Occasionally a
page will print properly but sometimes a single page will cause 5 to 10
sheets of paper to feed.
I have the printer connected to the parallel port.
Does anyone have any idea if this is a mechanical or driver issue?

Probably a driver issue, I would uninstall the driver and reinstall it.
If that does not fix it I doubt if the problem is mechanical, more likely
electronic (if it is the printer). Hopefully it is the driver.
