Compaq Pressario R3000

Hi, I've a CPQ pressario R3000 laptop (Or a HP ZD5000, it's the same thing).
My problem is:
When I try to turn on the laptop, the power led lights on few seconds and suddenly turns off. No display, no fans or hard drives turning. I replaced my PSU unit but I've got the same problem.

On the compaq (HP) website, they said I've a mainboard problem.
Does anyone had this problem before? If yes, can I fix the problem without replacing the board?

Hey Oldspower what was the answer that mpilchfamily gave you pn your R3000.
