Hope somebody can tell me what is wrong with my setup.
I've got four Fujitsu 15k/147gb Ultra320 SCSI drives, and I put it inside a SUN 711Ultrascsi StoreEdge multipack. The box is connected to my system with a SUN 68/68pin 0.8mt cable.

The Gigabyte motherboard has a 2-channels Adaptec AIC7902W onboard. My other channel run a RAID of Maxtor Atlas10k at 85Mb/s. The new RAID with the Fujitsu should run faster, but I've only achieved 32mb/s instead.

Why? Thanks for your help

It is the Gigabyte GA-8KNXP Ultra v2.0. But the Maxtors on the other channel are running at 82mb/s.
Same RAID10, I wonder if the problem could lie on the SUN enclosure.

It's been a while since I've delt with any Sun StorEdge systesm, but I even thought the interface is 68pin, I think your drive can only operate at 160 or less becuase the system uses UltraSCSI speeds (fast wide or narrow host adapteres) or aka Ultra 3 with has 20 MHz bus speed @ 20 MB/s. Check

Thanks, youre quite right. After intensive search I've found in another forum that the fujitsu7200 in the SUN StorEdge reach only 24mb/s.

Do you have any suggestion of an external RAID scsi case that reach high transfer speed?

Glad I could help. As to an external Raid SCSI case, you may want to look into building your own. A small mircoatx case with plenty of active cooling could work with a simple linux set up. You may also be interest in a device like this from Supermicro , also seen it on EBAY cheap. I think this device can be mounted into Server tower. IOMEGA makes an enclosure, but I've only seen it online poplulated, none empty. I guess some googling is in order if you want something out of the box.
