Leanest AV for 64bit Win7

Looking through many reviews and biases I'm having hard time finding the AV that's least taxing on my computer, while being a viable protection. What do you recommend for a 64-bit Win7 user looking for an AV that doesn't use too much computer resources? Cost is not an issue

I've been using Webroot's SpySweeper and Antivirus for years, tried the free Norton from comcast, and now am running AVG's. I disable all the automatic protections and only scan as needed. I also have ccleaner run at boot to clean up all the temp files and it closes automatically. I don't think you'd ever notice a hit on performance unless its doing an active scan of the system drives regardless what you go with. I'm using an old quad-core q6600.

I setup networks and pc protection at least 10x per week and i would never tell a client to disable automatic or real time protections of any sort!Why install protection if you don't want to protect in real time!
