I have a Philips Boombox which has a usb port so that I can plugg it in to my comp and play music without using an analog cable. I can't say that's a very useful function, but a useful function would be if I could connect a usb wireless adapter, blue tooth or wifi, and that way stream music to my boombox without any cables.
So now I'm wondering if that would be possible....I'm thinking it should but maybe I need specific firmware on my boombox....any way, do any-one know if I could do it, and if so....what do I need to pick up.
i don't think so.. if the radio isn't built with a wireless reciever, or atleast built in functions to support a feature like that. it will be very hard or impossible.
well I did do some research on the topic and I couldn't find anything....I was hopping that there might be some bluetooth adapter with the same function as the ones there are for printers.....but couldn't find anything.
A USB adapter needs a driver to work. A driver for whatever OS the computer/device is running. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say your boombox has no OS or BIOS that the USB wireless adapter would have a driver for.
If there's no official support to do something like this, it'll be kinda hard to happen.
The Boombox might even be equiped with some kinda OS. Still, it'd have to be a way to mess with it.
For you Boombox to work with Wi-fi stuff, like they already said, you have to have some compatible drive running on the Boombox.
Now, it may even be possible to do something like that... would be somewhat similar to a mod-chip and/or mod-softs for ps2/x-box consoles.
Search for stuff on Google. If you can't find anythink, probably can't be done.
