Can anyone give me advice on just getting a basic overclock for E6300 using Asus P5W DH mobo?

I've read wusy's guide, but i'm fairly new to overclocking and I just want a basic overclock to start with. (2 GHZ+)

I'm using the stock heatsink/fan for the time being and have 2x1Gb Geil DDR2-800 ram.

2 Ghz is NOT a basic overclock...

a Basic overclock is to go into your bios... turn off the auto settings... and change your FSB from 266 to 270...

Now you overclocked And your machine should run very reliable...

Use the overclocking profile in bios. It is very simple to use and will give you a decent OC with reasonable temps for a stock cpu fan.

thanks lethalinjection, I now am at 2.3ghz with ram at 833.

you are well on your way... keep reading this site, and search for articles on Overclocking... You will learn allot and be able to tweak your system with confidence.
