I have looked on other topics across the internet for this same question, but nobody seems to have much of a clue. I am hoping at least a few of you here are educated enough to give me a straight answer
My Sager NP5760 is equipped with a Go 7900GTX 512MB. I want to be able to run the HP LP3065 monitor when it is released. From what I can see, this monitor requires a dual-link DVI port to be able to run it at its full 2560 x 1600 pixels. Also from what I understand, it will only run at 1280 x 800 with a single-link DVI port.
On the XoticPC website where I bought my Sager, it states that the card "Supports 2048x1536 external monitor resolution (resolution can not be higher than laptop)". From what I can tell, both from the looks of the port outside and inside, it *appears* like the external display port is a dual-link DVI-I port and has all required pins going to the mobo. I also installed Powerstrip and tried to run my laptop's display at 2560 x 1600, which worked (except that it didn't fit itself to the monitor's actual size).
I am asking because I have no way of testing if it can actually run an external monitor at 2560 x 1600. I also wanted to know if running it at that resolution could somehow damage the card even if it could. I hope that someone could mabye give me a more definite answer based on these facts...
