Hello everyone.

I need a new graphics card, but I don't what to buy.

My rig:
pentium d 830 3ghz
1gb of ram
x700se(sh!t edition?)pci-e
And a power supply of 300w

Its a prebuild pc of acer(model e500). I have a 8X agp and 16X pci express slot.
My budget is about £150.

Another question:
Is a x700se better than a 6200 256mb gddr3 agp?

Thanx in advance.

Unless you can somehow expand your budget, you might as well stick with what you've got as you'll need a better psu for sure with any video upgrade.
Also, your X700 is much better than any Geforce 6200 and before you upgrade anything, make sure your PCI-X slot is 16X, not 1X or 4X.

I might be able to up the budget by another £50.

X850 XT PE are going for £99 on ebay new. Not sure if any AGP ones are available (other than mine which Im willing to sell lol, as new boxed)
Its still a very good card and I run most games pretty much maxed out, including the very demanding EQ2.

Hyper 580w PSU is what I also have, its a great PSU and the most luxurious packaged piece of hardware I ever received! circa £60.

will you sell yours for £99? 8)

I'll do it delivered for £99.

Its fully boxed in perfect working condition, never overclocked. Still got warranty, only bought earlier this year.

I'd be tempted to offload my MSI K8N Neo2 mobo too, which practically brand new and only went in about 4 months ago.

Lol, 7600 runs at 400mhz core 800mhz mem. 12 pipelines

My X850 XT PE runs at 520mhz, 1200mhz with 16 pipelines ;-)

a 7600 is pantz in comparison.

Nevermind about the space. I noticed that someone didnt push the harddrive fully into the socket which made the space in case look small.

Here are the pics

About the power supply.
Will it definaly fit into the case?

The only X850XT PE's you'll find for anywhere close to that price are PCI-E. For AGP they're MUCH more expensive. The best bang for the buck for AGP is hands down the 7600GT (+-$175USD).

did you look here?

easily the 7600gt is the one to get (on your budget) if possible. Not sure if you can find it in your price range but the 7900gs is even better... but probably too pricey.

right now, agp or pci in your price is owned by the 7600gt... good power req's and excellent performance.

Get a 7600GT and a decent power supply and you will be set to go,and give that casa a cleaning

the first one looks cooler :) :)

September 20, 2006 7:09:59 PM

What are you on about bro a

GeForce 7600 GT runs at 560MHz
256MB GDDR3 Extreme Memory running at 1400MHz
12 Pixel Pipelines

You wont get a better deal than the one I recomended BFG 3DFuzion GeForce 7600 GT 256MB GDDR3 for £88 here http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/7600_Series.html

The x850pe is a very good card faster than the 7600gt in alot of games but it has lacks Shader Model 3.0 and HDR support which ruins games like oblivion and prey

Nah.. check the benches. They're neck and neck.

The 7600 GT has some pretty efficient architecture. It'll beat a regular X850 XT in some stuff, I don't think the PE's minor clockspeed increase would make all that much of a difference.
