Many people talk about Compaq, Viewsonic and Samsung monitors mostly....how are the Sony LCDs... 17" - 18" .....

Sony make some of the highest quaily but expensive lcd!

Just want to remind you that there is thing a lcd absoultely work wonder compare to a crt(power usage, font sharpness and quality, desktop, ease on eye), but there is also things that a crt is currently much better then a lcd( like color accuracy/angle, response time) etc, so ask yourself what is important to you before you decide to go forward!

Response time and color accuracy are getting much better on LCD, and to be honest, if you know how to configure LCD's correctly, you can really get it looking good. Hehe, when FFD comes out, and as Budd claims, Viewsonic will come out w/ 11ms response time LCD, forget ghosting:) As for Sony's LCD, they look really stylish, but raen't that great. Their response times are pretty high, and the only one with a decent response time is the S81 w/ 30 ms total, although it has 20ms rise, which can be qiute annoying (try to stay lower than or equal to 15ms rise). In a nutshell, Sony LCD's aren't very good, although they are very stylish.

Yeah, still don't have time to post the link Flame, but it said 11ms. I'll be at work later today, and there I can get the link and post it.

Hey Flame, When do you think the best time to buy an LCD.... should i wait till after this Christmas, like Next February... I don't want to spend like 900--1100 on an LCD, when a few months later for alittle more i can get much better quality...

Right now prices are high, so I don't think right now's the best time (unless u get some of those killer deals from Dell). Wait till prices drop- I'm hoping around summer vacation.
