Hi all,
I have currently have the Belkin's Pre-N router and want to use it to it's fullest potential. However, Belkin doesn't have a USB wireless network dongle. I noticed that the Netgear's Pre-N router uses the same chip as the Belkin (Airgo).

Does anyone have any experiences with the WPN111NA working on the Belkin Pre-N router?

Any info is much appreciated.

We're getting tired of answering the same questions over.

802.11x is a standard. Any brands work with any other brand built on the same technology, while the software might vary.

It's a USB dongle, it'll work just as good.

why do ppl always be on some stupid ego trip. I appreciate the answer but leave the attitude at home.

I don't even think 802.11n is a standard, yet. So, perhaps implementation from different companies might not be completely compatible or something. That was the main reason why I asked.

It's called 802.11n isn't it? It has that name because it's a standard.

It might not be official, but it's a standard.

Maybe you should learn to do your own research.

There was no attitude in my post, I was explaining why no one was answering your post. Instead of reading the forums, people like you post and don't want to do your own research. You expect everyone to tell you everything instead of doing simple google search or reading reviews of the product you want.

That's where u and I differ. You keep saying 802.11n and I keep saying Pre-N.

This suggests that it won't be a standard until 11/06. I've also looked at the IEEE page and found of no such 802.11n interpretations. They are still settling the standard as far as I know.

If you say that 802.11n has been finalized please provide links.

Pre-N is hardware released on the current standard in the works. Yes, it can change meaning your hardware will be out of standard. But, it's built on what the current standard in the works is.
If you use Pre-N with Pre-N, they're both built off the same 802.11n standard, which yes, has not been finalized yet.
Yes, you have a good chance of running into problems now and later.
But firmware upgrades could potentially fix that. So, Pre-N means Pre-N. If you really need to know what problems you might have, your best bet would be to contact each hardware vendor.
Personally, I wouldn't bother with anything N yet. I'd wait for the finalized standard.. there is a reason it's been getting delayed for a few months now.
But quite a few companies are confident that if they release Pre-N equipment, it will become the standard or easily fixed with firmware updates.
If you can't stick to the same brand, you run a chance of running into problems. It's hard to say until you tried it.
But Belkin and Netgear both work off the same Pre-N standard.. those companies don't make the standards.
Either way, you run a risk. You'd probably have to test it out. It's hardware and it can be returned. You're better off with G for right now if you're worried about N and aren't able to research it yourself or know enough about it on your own.
