Does anyone here play WoW on a laptop with an ATI Mobility X1400 video system? That's all my Dell laptop has to work with and I'm curious how well it performs... it obviously meets the min. requirements, but I believe (being a 4 pipe card) that it'll suffer in WoW. Anyone with a similar setup?

Thanks in advance for any replies.

WoW is very easy on the videocard.

Your biggest limitation will be server lag...

I'm aware that it is a rather dated game, but an X1400 is a VERY weak video card... just not one for pushing a lot of pixels around. What's the min. video card you've played WoW on with an acceptable frame rate (not counting lag related to server/internet latency)

And the amount of RAM

1 GB isn't enough? I guess I should have listed the entire specs... 1.66 Core Duo, 1 GB, ATI X1400 and a 5400 RPM drive. I just don't want to buy this and have it run like crap... I have a much more capable desktop, but don't feel I'll play it as much when confined to my desk.

your 5400 rpm drive is gonna eat ur frames more than the 1400 in wow because of the memory required for wow, 1gb is nuff but you still use alot of pagefiling, its unavoidable in wow because of the nature of the game

The X1400 isn't that weak... as far as laptop cards, it's better than alot of them: all the intel extreme stuff, the geforce 6100, the 6150, the mobility 200m, X1000, X600, X300, 9600, and even mobility 9700... it's definitely good enough for light gaming.

People can run WoW with good settings on old Geforce4 Ti 4200's for goodness sake.

Why do you have such a horrible opinion of the X1400? It's heads and tails above my laptop's 6100, and even my 6100 will do the job at lowered graphical settings @ 1024x768 for almost everything.

I'm curious too since I just got a new work laptop with a 2.0 Core Duo, 2GB, 100GB 7200rpm

I wonder if Oblivion will even run on this thing...

Oblivion will run.

Just count on lowering the detail and resolution to very low levels...

Should be able to cope with a reasonable distance, no?

Hard to say. I've never personally run it with a low-end card like that.

But apparently, lots of people do...
