My new LCD native res is 1440X900. How do I set it to that resolution? Display setting goes from 1280X1024 to I think 1600X1080. Thanks in advance

I have a Radeon 1900XTX.

I just checked MSI website. The VGA card does not support that resolution. I just thought the video card supported any resolution up to it's max. Thanks for the info.

Your video card should be able to run that resolution.
Have you tried going the manufacture of the monitor and try to find the
monitor drivers? The problem is wide screen is not standard so XP will not display that setting.
What make and model is your monitor?

most monitors will tell the gpu what res. it supports.
i dont think that it matters really what card you have as it more depends on ur monitor. you have checked for the newest drivers rite? just in case?
and also, to the other point, widescreen isnt really that popular yet so it prob wont show up in the website as supporting 1440

What the hell are you talking about? Widescreen monitors work perfectly fine on Windows XP as long as your GPU supports it.

Yes I realize that having a wide screen monitor my self. You must have miss understood what I wrote. Windows will only display wide screen resolutions if it thinks you have a wide screen monitor. The GPU should have no problems displaying that resolution as long as it is told to.

Well yeah, but I switch between 1600x1200 on a 4:3 monitor and 1440x900 on a widescreen all the time, and I've never changed a thing (I move my computer between rooms alot). You shouldn't have to install monitor drivers.

Yes you will have no problems switching between monitors ONCE Windows knows what it is displaying on.
But if you are plugging in a monitor for the first time and windows does not recognize it will not display wide screen resolutions.

My control panel display did not have an option for 1440X900 when I first used the monitor. I believe I set a game to that resolution(NR2003) and when I went back to into control panel there was option for 1440x900 available at that time. Not sure why, but it was there. I did not download a single driver. If that helps any1 out great. I don't know why it did it.
