This question has been asked more than once in this group but I still
haven't found an answer.

The problem is that sometimes I find my iPAQ turned on in the morning. All
sync schedules are set to "Manual" except for the Desktop Schedule that is
set to "On connection" so it should not power on for that. And besides, the
only thing set up to synchronize is the clock.

Since I cannot find a pattern for this I guess it has to do with something
that the iPAQ only do once in a while.

Any ideas? The iPAQ Backup schedule is NOT enabled.

i dont know if this helps as i'm new in pockets (i have my ipaq 3630 be
delivered tomorrow ;-) ) but i read in some of polish groups that sometimes
ipaq turnes itself on during night to organise today screen and any
apointments during that day
check if you have battery saving option turned on and see if your ipaq turn
off after certain time of being unused.

hope it helps

If the iPAQ turns on to organize today screen and appointments (the calendar
is empty on my iPAQ though) I can see why it stays on since it's AC powered.
But why doesn't it do that every night then?

My 2210 did this, and I found the cause to be a dodgy USB connection in one
of the ports in my powered four way hub.
I switched to another port (a slave in the back of my separate keyboard),
and all is now well.
If you have a choice of USB ports, worth a try?

besides the other responses you have rec'd, it would be worth noting if
there are any particular apps running on the mornings you find it "awake",
some have reported that having windows media player open (even in the
background) can prevent the devise from powering off after the preset period
of time. other apps may be interfering as well. the next time you find it
powered on in the morning go into the running apps module and note was is
running, and then see if you can see a pattern.

I have already tried two of the six ports on the motherboard and currently
have it connected to a USB hub. But I had another computer a month ago and
it did the same there (no USB hub on that one). So it must be something
else.

The only app beside the default ones are Spb Pocket Plus.

Well....guess I have to ignore that fact that my iPAQ is on in the morning
once in a while.

Download and install PHM Tools, they allow you to view the task list and
see anything scheduled to go off. You can manually delete them, but
better still it tells you the app that will be run, so you can disable
it properly.

What do you use to close programs on your iPAQ? I'm sure that you know that
the red X only sends a program to the background, but leaves it running. If
once in a while you didn't use a task switcher to actually close a program,
but used the red X to background it and forgot to close it later, then after
the wake up at midnight to sort alarms some programs would continue running,
preventing the iPAQ from turning off. This would match the symptoms that
you have reported.

One of the features of Spb Pocket Plus is to close the programs instead of
minimizing them when tapping the X.

Guess I'll never solve this...
