So I've had Vista on a machine of mine since the first builds release. And now that I'm back from traveling I had a chance to update to RC1. And what do I find... my gaming performance has gone down. I now have a roughly 30% deficit in Vista RC1 compared to XP (oddly I gain cpu performance). I looked around and the same is everywhere:
Every article published (even those by MS) say the VISTA may only match XP. My concern is that with each beta/build the performance is going down. ATI and Nvidia's drivers are "Shipping ready" to quote them. Their at RC1 not beta 1, so there isn't a lot of time. Lets hope its the drivers and not a inherent Kernel, or an exchange for Aero.
I think everything they are promising is just related to DX10 which should result in some improvements, I just hope those aren't offset by poor kernel performance.
