I have been having a horribly frustrating time updating the driver on my ATI card. It's an old integrated graphics card. ATI IGP 320M.
So, I try to update the drivers on my Windows XP Pro SP1 machine. I get an error telling me to use a standard VGA driver when installing the ATI update.
Okay, so I uninstall all the ATI drivers and software and then proceed to RESTART IN VGA MODE so that I'm using the standard VGA driver. BUT, when I restart Windows XP Pro, it automatically detects the graphics card and installs the old driver for the ATI card.
Is there a way to turn off automatic hardware detection? I turned off plug-and-play in the services in msconfig, but that makes it impossible for me to update the ATI card.
