you are buying an CD-RW drive and a DVD-ROM drive, you might as well just buy one DVD-RW drive since they can play CDs and DVDs as well as burn DVD-R, DVD-RW, CD-R, CD-RW.

Sorry the Vista was a freebie they knock off the 49 off the final price. And yes that was an oversight with the Cd Rom drive but for the 15 or so dollars not a big deal.I dont burn DVDs anyway ....

DVD burners are only $28...

The ability to burn 9GB on one disk is nice when you want to back up your drive after you get a clean OS install and finish the 100 OS patches. That alone might save you a lot of time if something gets corrupted.

The DVD burner is only $9 more than the CD burner... The extra capability might come in handy someday.

Why get 2 tubes of arctic silver? One tube is enough to install 20 CPUs. That isn't mayonaise... you just want a tiny bit.

Also, why spend a lot of money on a case. There are plenty of cases with mutliple 120mm fans for less than $40. Windows and lights lose their appeal quickly, you could use that extra $60 for something that counts.

High quality cases last a long time. Also, their lighter, better cooling, and better warranties/service. You don't need to spend too much on a case, but you don't want too little, or your gonna have it fall apart on you and start eating your hand (I got cut by a case really bad once... but then again, it was my 400th or so computer)

I would still recommend one drive, and for a DVD burner. CD's are more expensive than DVD's at some places, no more 50 packs for free =(

Not bad at all.

But why are you getting Vista beta? Wait for final version to arrive before getting it.

Also, why aren't you getting a DVD burner instead of a CD-burner. Believe me, since I have one I haven't burn more than 5 CD's, and that's in the last 2 years. Any LG or Lite-On DVD-burner will be both inexpensive and a good performer.

And last, ASUS just announce availability of nForce590 chipset based mobo. I wouldn't be surprise to see them perform better than Intel i975X chipset based mobo. A search on the net in the next few day should answer that question if not already. It might not be as good an overclocker according to early report, but since you're getting an Intel board I suppose it's not your goal anyway.

I wouldn't recommend waiting 1+ month for a product, but 2 week is worth it I think.

But pretty much everything else is perfect.

Remember, it's your purchassed, so do as you want, I'm only saying what I think and I don't know shit  (only joking on myself...)

I appreciate all this positive feedback and I will be returning the CD burner for a DVD burner. As far as the mobo goes all the research I did does not support the argument that this mobo cannot be OCed.THG gave this mobo best in its class when he concluded the last LGA775 boards.I also did some reading on reviews from people who own the asus vs the intel and I was not swayed in any one direction.I currently have an ASUS brd and it has been a stellar performer for the past 2 yrs.I just feel that Intel had more time preparing this board based on 975X and the C2D than their competition. As far as Vista Beta 2 goes it was free and why not give it a shot if all goes well with it I will just do an upgrade when it hits the shelves.

Thanks again
Andy

why buy the overpriced intel board instead of say an asus board that will come with all the sata cables you need including the angled red ones, DON'T BUY XP HOME, because honestly it is garbage. Also believe me I have 1, a single Raptor drive is a huge waste of money you pay twice as much for a quarter of the storage and YOU WILL NOT notice much of an improvement at all. The only reason to buy Raptors is for raid, a raid 0 configuration effectively doubles the small speed difference and becomes worth it. A single Raptor is like pissing money out the window

That's not really a good board at all. DDR 1 slots, only two of them, you can't get a good interleave going. Agp 8x, standard model. I guess if you want to build a really really cheap c2d like an allendale with your old components I guess it would make sense, but it looks like a legit price.
