We do still have OS/2 running here in the building, including a "server" on a PIII 733 Compaq EN.

*shudders*

Whats wrong with a PIII server?
As long as it does what you want.

In this case; holding the door open when there's a breeze.

Or using it as a blunt weapon to.....nvrmind.

Nothing is wrong with a PIII server. And I will say that the OS/2 is quite robust (for what we need it for). Very little support needed, other than weekly reboots of the whole kit & caboodle...

The reason I said "server" is that it is just standard desktop hardware. We use it for the software routing portion of OS/2 that Windows doesn't have.

I've got a Dell poweredge 2300 dual-PIII running as ICS, file server and general crap (it's network name is 'General Shit Box'), and it's been going for so long without needing interference I've forgotten what OS I've got on it.

Some version of Linux. A heavily hacked one.

It also has two LAN cables going in, a third cable from the router, and a power cable.

It works. I'm quite happy with it.

considering it has ICS, its prolly a win2000(server of course) or greater box.

I forget, and I'm too lazy to dig out a spare monitor/keyboard to stick onto the thing.

Actually, I could just query it across the network...

I'll do that tonight. [/suddenly curious]
