just a note: You have to tell us what you are talking about so we can give you our point of view on something we probably will care nothing about...

Reply to OldGoat

If you're talking about registering for the forums, and entering the drawings, my confirmation emails kept getting stuck in the spam firewall that we have.

If you're not talking about that, then .... ?????

Maybe because it was blue...

Oh, excuse me, what were we talking about?

How does this happen? I don't understand. There is like one of the incoherent posts a week.

Since you mentioned it, I spent two hours last night trying remove the "Windoze" Security Center update from my laptop. Why in the H**L do companies highjack your homepage to sell there software? Just because my Antivirus subscription ran out while I was at work, is no reason to lock up my computer with F'in 'Critical Errors' so I will purchase there overinflated software.

(I feel a little better)

A lot of times it's someone trying to reply to a post and they hir New Topic instead of Reply. It's a noobe thing i guess.

But hey it gives us a place to goof off and have some fun.

 We can turn this one into a universal bitch session. A place for everyone to rant and rave about what pisses them off. Like stupid things you have seen while working on PC's or doing tech support.

Just an idea. :D

Good suggestion.

You know what really grinds my gears? You America! F**K you!

Well unless your spleen has a CPU and RAM we can't help.

Hey, my spleen has a CPU and RAM so get to work!

Reply to HoldenMcGroin

I can reply to that! Built a rig the first week of college for a kid who has a lot of mommy's money and wanted a desktop that could play games better than his laptop.

My rig has UV paint highlighting a few things, like capacitors and my PCI slots, and he wanted the same thing. I put it together and got my 50 bucks and said when I was done with some homework I would paint the parts that are ok to paint with the UV.

It is UV paint in a spray can, but I just spray it on a piece of cardboard and use a brush. Few hours later he comes in saying his PC is restarting and keeps doing that. So I naturally think the heatsink is off a little or something, but I go in to see that he decided to spray the insides of his case and wait the 10-15 min the can says it takes to dry. Luckily the stuff is non-conductive but he froze his heatsink fan in place and his gpu fan is shaking from the uneven weight distribution. Then he gets mad at ME and tells me to fix it. I say "the only way I'm fixing that, is if you order the parts I tell you to and it will cost you $50 more dumbass dollars."

He gets pissed as some only-child-rich-parent types do and takes a swing at me. I am 6'1" 205-225 depending if I am training (Ultimate Fighting) and a brown belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at a very good Jiu-Jitsu school (Warrior's Cove) He is about 5'10" 165 and a very out-of-shape pothead. I submit him in the hall very easily in a Kimura (arm bent behind the back basically) and people watch and laugh as he struggles hopelessly.

I held him long enough for a buddy to take a picture and post it on Facebook and sent it in to College Humor but it hasn't made the site yet that we know of.

That is my dumbass client story for the day!

May the thread live on...

No sir, he sprayed it directly on the heatsink fan and the pci slots. The kid is not very smart. Especially when it comes to computers.

I tell people all the time at work that their problem is a classic ID10-T problem or an OE issue

Here's a good trick to play on an "End User":

Next time you catch them away from their machine, take a snapshot of their desktop, then set that image as their desktop and hide their icons.

They will go NUTS!

Thank UF for the idea!

I have not heard those in awhile, I have started using the BeTKAC error, a few years ago and just kept using them...

Reply to OldGoat

I want to try that. Thought about doing it in High School, but didn't want to risk having my Nazi compsci-teacher write me up for something pointless... shrug

Done that many times.... in the days of DOS I use to set the prompt as
[alt255] and the prompt would go blank. It drove people crazy, it worked good for directories too...

Reply to OldGoat

I recently reviewed a resume for an engineer, and for one of the skills listed, it said DOS...

I was like, I hope you knew DOS especially if you've been programming for the last 15 years of your life...

I would tell people that ask me why they are having problems, that the problem is BeTKAC (Between The Keyboard And Chair). I pronounce it bet'kak

Reply to OldGoat

I hadnt heard it either. Might have to pull that one out if the soon-to-be infamous spray can kid decides he wants and needs my help installing his new hsf.

Blargletooth - (Blar-gull-tooth) noun, to be discombobulated in thought, due to stress and sitting at a computer too long. Also see "my personal word of the day"
