My brother going to ADD a new X1950XTx vga to his old system ( P D 830.2 GB 667 RAM ,Gigabyte 955X chipset Board)to play games.I said him to buy new C2D Rig to play future games(crysis). He said most games need good vga not CPU.So he's not going to buy new rig until 2007winter,but going to add new vga.My question is ....

1 . IS my brother doing right thing????

I would say yes he is....

And no he's not

The rest of the PC is not worth the upgrade yet - you will get the best performance boost from a new gfx card...

But - can't he wait until the DX10 cards are out...

I dont think the X1950XTX is worth the price. The X1900XTX is sitting at a much better $/performance spot. He could even get a new motherboard (the P5B Deluxe is highly recommended) with the difference, and upgrade to Conroe (wich will be dirt cheap) once the quad-cores or the 65mn processors from AMD have arrived.

So you mean Buying a new Quad-core support system is better than upgrading current rig.So you have any idea abt that?

965-DQ6 is ma choice .according to nvidia It support 7950GX2

If he's gonna buy a new laptop next summer, then there's no reason for him to get such an expensive video card now, especially since it will soon be obselete.

What's his current grahpics card??
