Canon's single picoliter printers - clogging issues?

I'm considering one of Canon's single picoliter printers such as the IP5000
(or the forthcoming IP6600D). For those of you with such a printer have you
had any issues with clogging? TIA

You mean people with actual hands on experience (measekites need not
apply). ;-)

Absolutely no issues with clogging with my iP5000. I've had it since
Christmas and I don't use Canon's designer-priced inks (with the pretty
hologram, as someone once stated) that cost almost as much as the
printer itself. I use a combination of more affordable pigmented bulk
black BCI-3e ink, which is ridiculously easy to refill (about 2
minutes), and compatible cartridges (Formulabs brand ink). I've also
tried another brand of compatibles and a set of refill inks with
complete confidence. This 1 pl printer works fine with anything I put
inside. It's no more fussy than your 2 pl printer iP4000. Both the
iP4000 and iP5000 are already discontinued models, replaced by newer
models of about the same quality, but using different cartridges. The
"secret" to not getting clogs is simple: use it once or twice a week.
If you print something only once a month, you're taking a risk
(regardless of the brand ink you use).

The secret must be in their ink formulation. Just as you experienced, my
Epson clogged even with Epson ink.

Same here. I had an Epson Stylus Photo 820 that guzzled ink like a redneck
guzzles beer. I replaced it with a Canon IP3000 and I now spend half as
much on ink, and not a single clogged nozzle in the year that I've owned it.
The Epson clogged constantly. Sure the Canon looks like a toaster oven, but
it's also one of the best printers I ever owned.
