I just built a new system for my uncle using a Gigabyte 965P-DS3 and the chipset temperature seemed to be high at 44C. This was taken after several hours basic usage (web surfing, e-mail, etc.). Can anyone else who has dealt with this board confirm theses temps are normal or do I have an issue?

Yea, everything is at stock speeds and I am using the stock Intel HSF that came with the E6300. As far as the case goes, it is a very basic mid-tower case with an 80mm fan exausting out the rear. The PSU is an Antec True Power II 550 Watt that has an 120mm fan pushing air out the case as well. For an air intake, a CD/DVD drive bay fan is installed. The chipset temp just seemed high as most of the other boards I've dealt with have had temps around 30C - 38C. Anyway, I just wanted to get a general idea of how other people's temps are so I can have some reassurance.

i have same board... that chip temp seems about 8-10 degrees higher than mine under normal usage, but I'm using a custom cpu cooler (freezer 7 pro) and good case cooling so maybe that's helping a bit.
Your temps don't seem really high. Be interested to know what temps you are getting under load.

although safe, that temp does seem high. if you want you can remove the HSF and put some AS5 on it, that should lower it a lil bit. but if your really worried about it just mount a fan onto the NB HS. i have a water cooling setup with a pretty good OC on my DS3, i added a small coolermaster fan to the NB, and it dropped it tremendously.

im not at home right now, but i think it idles around 32*C and maybe get around 38*C if memory serves me right.
