Neither I will wait for 45nm variants before I make my purchasing decision, heck I am still working on getting a Core 2 system let alone thinking about what I will buy in 2008, makes me wish I wasn’t a poor fellow.

no Id never buy a processor that costs $999 , and even if i had money to throw away like that , i wouldnt pay $999 for that . I just cant justify spend that much on one lil chip, so i can be on top of the performance chart for 6 months.

I like to spend my hard earned cash on other things , computers arent my life like computers are to some.

Because AMD had cheaper chips when I needed them and then faster chips when I needed them Core 2 will not shake my loyalty.

You've said it many times yourself. K8L will launch on server first and Deerhound/Barcelona is a server core and if you are right that 4x4 will use unregistered memory you can't just put a server Barcelona in a 4x4 system. We have no word on desktop K8L's although it is certainly looking like AMD is holding back for Q1 2008 along with HT3.0.

AMD has stated that Barcelona will make it to the desktop by Q3-Q407. They also said that only FX would get four cores while X2 would get Bulldozer (the dual core Barcelona).

I actually predicted that because of product overlap. AMD has a problem with that right now as there are 3 distinct familes (754 Sempron, 754 Athlon, 939Athlon) that are rated 3400+.

The lates news says that there will be three releases of two architectures. Barcelona will debut with HT2.0 and then get HT 3.0 while FX/X2 will get the new core with HT3 later in 07, IIRC.

Well, if I sell my mobo, chip, Ram and buy a cheap case with a cheap HD\DVD, I'll come out spending maybe $700. That's not too bad considering that I upgraded almost a year ago.
