In the next few days I will be ordering the parts for my new rig. The choice of RAM is still giving me a head ache. So far I have decided to go for this mobo and CPU:

Conroe E6600
Asus P5B

Due to budget I have 2 choices for the RAM. They are:

2Gb (2X1Gb) Corsair TwinX XMS2, DDR2 PC6400 (800), 240 Pin, Non-ECC Unbuffered, CAS 5-5-5-12

or

2Gb (2X1Gb) Corsair TwinX XMS2, DDR2 PC5400 (667), 240 Pin, Non-ECC Unbuffered, CAS 4-4-4-12

Both are about the same in price. Which is better for the E6600? The lower latency or the higher speed?

Thanks.

I personally would go for the faster clock :D Like killercop said...not enormously different.

Actually, I don't think it'll make a difference much cuz 667mhz can be oc to 800mhz and the 800mhz could probably tighten down to CL4, not sure though.

No matter which ram u end up with, try oc and/or adjust latency, and tell us what ur best result is! thanks
