I would like to know if a 550w PSU would be good enough to support 2 DX10 cards in SLI/XFire. I heard they may take up to 300w, even though that dosent seem right.

Anyone have an opinion?
Thnx.

Edit: Im buying the D975XBX Intel motherboard for Core 2 Duo and SLI/XFire, so i may also want to add a 3rd X1600 card for physics, would i need 3 +12v rails, or what?

I believe the R600 and G80 are supposed to have extarnal power supplies to plug directly into the wall... so a 550w for your case should be fine.

probably yes
but if they don't your psu will fail i think
however, adding a second psu would solve that problem

I would say 550W is not a lot. Adding a second PSU is not feasible unless you get a bay type PSU, which is pretty expensive... shrug...

Go for a decent 700W PSU at least, a GameXStream or Enermax Galaxy or PC P&C or TT Toughpower. Don't skimp on the PSU.
