I'm looking for a good gamer's video card. I have a AIW 9800 Pro 128 MG video card. I've tried to play Rise of Legends and it keeps stopping and starting because I apparently don't have enough video RAM What's the difference between AGP & PCI? Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated
What are your other computer spec's (CPU, amount of RAM, etc.). What is your budget for a new video card. AGP and PCI are just two different interfaces, but AGP is made for video and PCI is general purpose. But do you mean the old PCI or the new PCI-Express that is on currently selling motherboards and has displaced AGP?
Any of the ATI X1600 and higher or Nvidia GeForce 7600 and higher in the agp realm. If you're running a 9800 AIW you have AGP on your system and can't use PCI-Express. The X1600's and 7600's start off around $125 for 256mb version and ~$150 for the 512mb versions... the best you can get will be the 7800gs 256mb.. it runs around $300.
(the high 6800 series arent bad either... 6800xt and such)
RoL can run fine on a video card with 128MB of RAM so I doubt that would be the reason; maybe driver bugs or something else.
In any case if you absolutely had to upgrade I would start looking towards a complete overhaul to a newer processor socket and a PCIe graphics interface. AGP choice-wise, the X1600 or GF7600 is going to be about the most you'll want to spend.
There are a few cards to choose from in the agp world. As for the difference between agp and pci express, well the pci express interface can,in theory,be used for any card that will use it.where-as the agp interface is designed for video specifically.Other than being twice as fast as the agp slot, the pci express offers more voltage and versatility. So an upgrade to pci express is a good ideal.Goodluck.

As it has been said, any X1600 or 7600 would be the best choices.
Bear in mind that Rise of Legends is also heavy on system memory, so watch out for that.

The 6800s are a bit overpriced. Definitively not worthy, considering the 7600GT has roughly the same performance of a 6800 Ultra, and much less power consumption and heat generation.
Don't recommend the 6800XT to anybody. It's so bad it should have never ever seen the light. Sure, there are some special versions equipped with GDDR3, but those are seriously overpriced.
