Print Spooler stops working suddenly

We have a Win2K domain with windows xp on the desktops. My problem is that
suddenly throught the day the desktops do not print. When you look at the
printer it says that it cannot connect to the printer and that the print
spool is not running. The way that the accounts are set up the user cannot
change any settings or start or stop any services. The print server is
running Windows XP like the desktops and we are using the Print Queue Manager
software from software shelf. Anybody have the same problem or know what is
causing this?
