Generic motherboard RAID controller question

I have built several computers over the years although none have been very exotic - no OCing or RAID arrays. I'm now trying to build one to use as a 96kHz 24bit DAW. My 32 bit Athlon 3200 with 3 year old hard drives just isn't up to it!

My question is this. Is it common for the onboard RAID controllers to allow multiple simultaneous configurations?

Example: I would like to use 2 drives for a RAID 0 array for audio recording/playback/processing, and one drive for OS and long term storage. Is this possible with one onboard RAID controller? If so which ones!

Thanks in advance.

There would be no reason why you shouldnt. The onboard raid controller is based on the motherboard though. Most common one are the Promise and maybe the Nvidia ones one their boards.

Just install using IDE with ur OS drive and then install the array. Just depends on the motherboard.
