Well, like the topic says, I'm facing the eternal choice of AMD vs. Intel. I've googled for hours yet I can't find a direct comparison between AMDs fx-60 and Intels Core2 Duo T7600. So my question is this: all other components (Ram, Graphics card) considered as equal as possible, which would come out on top? I realise this isn't an exact science.

The CPU will be used in a laptop for gaming mostly.

Any help is appreciated!

Hmm, it's the probably part that gets me :p

I also would *think* the core 2 duo would be the best choice, but with that said I haven't seen how the desktop models (E6700 and such) compare with their mobile counterparts. This added to the fact that the Fx-60 is also a desktop processor makes comparing them extremely vague.

ie.
I can find benchmarks comparing desktop core2 duos to the fx-60, but can not find benchmarks comparing mobile core2 duos to the fx-60.

:?

Where are you finding a laptop with an FX-60 as the CPU? I should think an FX-60 would have very serious cooling problems in a laptop.

Good point, but, no offence, it doesn't neccessarily mean the T7600 would be faster as a result overall. These things are usually full of little suprises.

The fx-60 has higher clock frequency on it's side. :x

A T7600 runs at 2.33GHz, and has 4Mb L2 cache, so it's basically an E6600 in a low-power guise - with a slower FSB.

It will eat the FX-60 for breakfast.

Good, that's the kind of heavy opinionated answer I'm looking for

Would you be speaking from personal experience though or just judging by the specifications ?

Wouldn't be too concerned about the power consumption as it's a desktop replacement type lappy I'm looking for. Thanks for your views folks. Definately leaning towards the Duo now.

Feel free to keep commenting however, would be interesting to hear more opinions.
