New Gaming Laptop or Desktop OR Upgrade Current Rig...

:!: I have Pentium D 3.0 GHz desktop pc with 2 GB ram (667).I'm a middle level gamer.
I like to play upcoming CRYSIS at (1280x1024) res. These days I’m doing mind battle to select which is better...Lol...I have $4000 bucks :D in ma hand.
I need your help to decide which is good...

1. Going for a gaming laptop is my 1st choice (I'm leaving ma country next fall).I can wait till DX 10 mobile hi-end out.

2. My second plan is buying a new Desktop now.

3. Or add hi-end Dx 9 to ma current rig and play Crysis on it. (My current card is ATI X1900XT 512MB)

Guys please give your opinions... :?:

If you want that 7950GX2, i suggest you up your monitor to something over the resolution of 1600x1200, or you'll never see the true quality of the card. If you decide to stick with that monitor, than the video card you have right now will do just fine.
  3. The card you have now is equivalent to my 'wait a year for DX10 and Vista' 9x holdover card (7900GT).

As you are leaving your country, invest you money in a laptop. You can take it with you, its certainly far more transportable than any desktop. A bigger vid card now is only really useful on higher resolutions - at least until some even more demanding games come along.

But like it was said above, you have the budget to do both - but if it were myself I'd keep the extra money I save from not buying a desktop now and use it later - or use it on something else fantastic.
  4. :D So you told me to wait and buy DX 10 hi-end support laptop ha.... :D

    I :? s ma old Desktop play crysis smoothly???No need to upgrade ?? :?:
  5. If anything, upgrade your CPU to a Core 2 Duo E6600. Your video card is great; it doesn't get much more high-end than that. I'd wait until Crysis comes out BEFORE you upgrade the video card; by then, there should be some new stuff.

    Core 2 Duo E6600:
