Hi, im ready to buy 2x1gb sticks of 6400, its a tossup between these two. There is about £25 difference between these two products (see linkage), other than the fancy led lights (closed case so wasted on me) is there any difference in these two products.

Cheaper RAM
'Less' cheaper

Edit: Specs: Cheaper is XMS2 other is Pro. Other than that they are both DDR2 Non-ECC, Unbuffered, PC6400, 2x128Mx64, 4-4-4-12.

Am i right in that the extra 25 quid is being spent on fancy heatsinks and led lights or is there fundamental difference?

Appreciate any thoughts.

Cheers

I can't tell you if there is any difference besides the heatspreaders without the Cas latencies, and the voltage tolerance, etc. Give some specs and I would be able to tell you if it will be worth your Dime, another usefull thing tp know would be what cpu/mobo you will be using with them.

Im waiting till ram prices fall again as I had my eye on the Corsair XMS2 PC6400 from Scan. Now with the hike im prepared to wait as its gone up £40+ to £192 for the 2gb i think. I did notice on Overclockers.co.uk there is G.Skill 2x1gb cas4 for £20 cheaper but didnt bother asking how it compares to the Corsair here as im prepared to wait.

Gskill, iS samsung, at least I think so. I was under the impression that Gskill is samsungs Gaming Grade ram, like Kingston Hyper X, I believe gskill has actually been around for a while, I think it was in asia for years, maybe under a different name. They probably use samsung chips because samsung gets ram to perform at ungodly speed in the very same video card you have in your computer. (or at least statistically that is likely)

Maybe only some Gskill DDR2 533 is Samsung. The rest in the current market must be Micron chips. Micron right now produces the two best chips in the market and Gskill has DDR2 800 CL4 and DDR2 1000 CL4 wich use these two chips.
Possibly DDR was/is Samsung, but for high end DDR2 its gotta be Micron.
