Okay, so I finished my budget build last night, and decided to start tinkering with overclocking a little. My goal was between 2.2-2.4Ghz on the AM2 3000+, and I hit that with ease just by upping the FSB to 250, and leaving the multiplier at 9.

Now, this is the RAM I have:

I have my BIOS set to DDR2 667 and left everything else alone. Here is my CPUZ screenshots:

Any suggestions on how to improve my set up?

and just for reference, CPU Temps are around 30* at idle

Since I have a single 1GB DIMM, shouldn't it be 1T on the RAM? I am going to mess around with the timings a bit today to see what I can get. Also, how do I measure my actual RAM speed? Right now CPUZ says 379Mhz.... Anyway, more searching I guess.

My only other question is, how much should I bump the volts to start with? This thing is only going to 36* under full load from prime95!! (My case has AWESOME flow!

RAM speed should be in BIOS, what motherboard do you have ?

EDIT: Whoops just saw sig, damn slow internet !

That ATi Xpress chipset is probably holding you back (presuming thats the same board im thinking of)

So close to 2.4Ghz, still under 40*C under full load! I can't up the voltage any on the CPU 1.450 is the max for my MOBO, but I honestly don't thinks that is where my issue is. I do, however think the MOBO is why I can't go any higher without crashing... my RAM voltage is locked at 1.8, not sure if that is hurting me or not. I have my divider set at 266mhz (533Mhz) which I have found is where I get my best overall overclock!

Either way, 2329.44Mhz is a pretty good ways from 1800Mhz, and my RAM is operating at CL4 333 (666Mhz, I know, its the devil), so I think its pretty good right now.

Hit a Prime95 Stable 2.5Ghz last night on the 3000+. Raised the volts to 1.456, and lowered the RAM Divider.

53*C is the temp at max load as reported by speedfan. Not to shappy I guess... at idle it is around 39*C... sits around 45* in most games until my gfx card starts raising the case temp (thing gets hot even at stock speeds)

RAM is roughly at an effective 600mhz with 3-3-3-9 timings. I am going to run 3dMark again today.... sure hope I can pull 7000!!!
