Hey all! One quick question, will some of you more experienced oc'ers give me some links to over clocking. I read the one here by Wussy, it looks great, REALLY! Its just that Im very very very (X infinity) new at oc'ing. And MAN was that thing confusing!! I just ordered all my stuff, or thingies as my daughter calls them. Here's what I have coming in the mail (UPS) maybe this will help with any answers.

ASUS p5b Delux
E6600
CORSAIR XMS2 1GB (2 x 512MB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit
Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 ST3320620AS
COOLER MASTER Mystique 631 RC-631-KWN1-GP
Rosewill RP550V2-D-SL 550W SLI Ready-ATX

Thanks for any answers to this post. Alot of you have answered my other post before. Thats why Im very satisfied with this rig. :p

One more thing, Ive seen where adding an after market CPU fan upgrade is one of the first things people are doing. Will this fan DEFINETLY work with my E6600 CPU?.

COOLER MASTER RR-LCH-P9E1 92x25 mm (compatible with 80mm fan) UFO :?

This is the only guide to consider. READ through your motherboard manual FIRST. Then come back and read wusy's guide. It will make more sense.

That cooler is insufficient.

You can spend your money how you see fit but I'd consider:

Thermalright Ultra-120 or Scythe Infinity on the high-end.

The Scythe Mine in the mid-range.

The Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro on the low range which is also available for a bit more, but in stock, at Newegg.

The Scythe Ninja is another one to consider.
Dont forget to pair these coolers with a high performance (<1600RPM) fan. For the 120mm the Silverstone FM121 is the fan nirvana.

The Ninja is an excellent cooler but unfortunately it is hard to find. There's "rumors" that it has been discontinued and is being replaced by the Infinity.

No man, on Monday a new revision B came out, with support for AM2.
You can find at crazypc.com.

What im not sure of is, wich of the three 120mm HSF weve talked about (ultra-120, infinity, ninja) would react better to a high CFM fan. Got any info on this?

I know wusy mentioned a combination with the Infinity (IIRC) that yielded the best results in a thread around here somewhere, I'll try to find it.

EDIT: Fook, I cannot find it but IIRC it involved the Infinity and two 120s in a push pull config. I just cannot remmember. Sorry.

Try VR-Zone, where they tested Infinity w/ FM121 instead of the default 1300RPM fan.
That pretty much said it all about the fin density of the Infinity compared to Ninja and the fan requirement it needs to perform at optimum.

This review. Hehe didnt notice they used a FM121 the first time I read it.

Sorry dude, but if you cannot find wusy's guide I'm not too sure you should be trying to overclock your laptop.

The 'general' answer to your question is 'no'.

Once again, thanks for the info wusy. I recalled you mentioning a different fan in another thread, thought you mentioned a push-pull. :? The damn search engine on the forums suck.

I never said I want to overclock, I like to be sure that things will be perfectly stable, and that anything that goes wrong will be covered by warranty.

and my question on laptops was just interest, and if the answer was a yes then I would think about testing overclocking out on an old laptop to see how It goes.
