Alllrighty soo should I save some cash money and buy a 50 dollar ECS motherboard and get a core 2 e6600 or should I get a more expensive motherboard and an e6400 and overclock? Or should I buy the 50 dollar mobo (very little overclock) an e6300 and spend mucho $$$ on a graphics card. I want the best performance across the board for the least money.

Depends how much money you really want to spend. I would suggest the E6400/Gigabyte DS3 also, and either a 7900GT or X1900XT. GL :)

It's not a smart decision to let e6600 to run a $50 mobo, unless you are planning to chang your mobo very soon,I highly recommend that you get a e6300 comes up with a gigabyte ds3.You can overclock, having a better performances than a e6600 + ECS, what's more you can have more in tweaking your system.

Buying a Conroe chip and installing it on a cheap motherboard is like buying a high-performance sports car and driving it on the cheapest set of tires you can find. That's gonna have an effect, and it's going to be something you won't like.
Save yourself a lot of heartache, aggravation and time -- spend the extra $40 or so for a better board.
I've usually been an MSI guy personally, but the other posters gave good advice. That Gigabyte DS3 and the Asus P5B are excellent for the money.
