Next-gen cards could come out later this fall, but I think they'll come out early '07.

I have a AMD 4000+ 2GB and 7800 GT right now....I have wasted my money several times upgrading at points in time where immediately after I buy some expensive part, I find out that something new comes out, etc.

Example: Christmas 2005. I had a 3200+ 939...I waited until almost summer 06, 4-6 months after Christmas 2005 when I wanted to upgrade my proc....I finally decided to get the 4000+ BAM....Core 2 duo. If I would have waited 2 more months, I could have gotten 1.5-2x price per performance ratio.

I can't wait to build a new computer . However, this time I am waiting. It is totally gonna be the shit...I don't know if I'm waiting for DX10 or not, the x1900xt is like 350 bucks or less....that seems like such a good deal. However, I'm just gonna wait it out even longer so I can be ensured a pwnsauce rig.

Plus, I already have an x-fi fatality and thx 5.1 logitechs.

I wonder if many new things will be better than the average core 2 duos by Christmas 2006.

I'd wait till about 1 week before UT2007 comes out to buy a new card. Then, you're almost guaranteed to have a sweet DX10 card that won't have as many bugs as when they first release. Do some research, though, to see if price cuts or new cards are coming at that time.

Not worth going from X800XT to 7600GT.
