What kind of cooling do you have on it?
Mine is only at 551/780. Not pushing it too far until I get my mcw60.
Also, are you using powerstrip or something else?

my xfx 7900gt Memory goes upto 894Mhz and core to 590, this is with a zalman vf900. Doesnt get any hotter than 57c on full load, good card even if my first one died after a week :(

I had 2 die on me in one week. Thank god for refund and exchange.

I just have stock cooling on it.. its one of the EVGa KO ones.. its all copper with a plastic piece on it... it actually doesn't seem to be that bad my temps stay at about 47C under full load. It came with Hitman:blood money as well. 220 dollars for the card when i got it

yea i see some people showing 900-1k for memory and i'm stopped at 815.. and it doesn't appear to be heat related. i can touch the card so it isn't that hot :D.. my 9800pro would burn my finger prints off.. that was stock ^^.

I dont know whats wrong with my 7900gt, its a stock eVGA item with the standard cooler, Iv sat a case fan next to it for good measure, but the best I get is 540GPU and 767 on the RAM!

Im tempted to cut a whole in the side of my case for ventilation, but then i thought "That'l look stupid", especially if I get round to plumbing it in to my Water cooling system.

But back to the speeds, Why so low??

If I clock the GPU any higher it throttles back (during 3dmark 06) and If i take the ram any higher I get artifacts on that forest scene on 3dmark!!

Prehaps I got the wost of the bunch.

Wow.. maybe these things are more random than i thought!

First thing I check when it comes to OC'ing anything.. is voltages.. make sure all the rails look fairly steady.. it really wouldn't have much to do with your memory not clocking higher.. but you never know i guess.

What was your model.. mine was the 7900GT KO edition..?

.. and if i'm not mistaken.. i think nvidia's temperature software is fairly accurate.. so you should take a look at your temps.. i don't think those artifacts are heat related arond 700-850 memory speeds. Like i said.. i can touch the memory so it shouldn't be that bad.

My GPU temp is 80c max under load. Probably gona move it to water cooling next week. Sould get some heatsinks for the ram too.

Mine is the Bog standard eVGA 7900gt

My 3dmark 06 score is 4534 cant get 05 to complete its cycle. Icidently I get over 26000 for 3d mark 01.

What happens is that when a card passes a given temperature (designated by the manufacturer) the core will de clock itself in order to prevent a burn out. It is called thermal throttling, most CPUs and GPUs have it these days. Mine seems to thermal throttle at about 80c (even though the NVidia control panel says 130c). In its current state, if I increase the GPU by 10MHz, I loose 200 3d Marks (06).
