Hi I recently bought an ASRock 775i65G (cheap shit I know) and a core2 6300 I had a WD2500KS 250Gb SataII working perfect on an intel D101GGC (ati chips) sataI.
The motherboard doesn´t like the hard drive no matter what I jumper the drive (limit to sata I operation).

My question is if the sata controller on the board could have get screwed for plugging the hard drive which is sata II without having jumpered it to sata I.

Perhaps is the dumbest question ever but I spent all night trying to fix this s**t.

Thank you

Maybe the drive firmware and sata controller on the motherboard don't play nice...... could be a known issue. See if WD has anything to say about it (and if they have any firmware updates for that drive model).

Thanks Prophecy apparently the motherboard has problems with sata drives, I checked for bios updates and they focus mainly in sata drives compatibility but for my luck the links for downloading the bios are broken so if anyone has the latest bios for this motherboard or knows where I can download it please tell me.

Now, I had the motherboard to boot randomly, but at least it boots, it does not by any means reboot well, it hangs when trying to soft reboot.

Thank you

Hello,
I have the same motherboard and WD hard and am having no problems.
My mb came with 2.70 bios and I updated it to 2.90 just for fun. You can get bios from asrock.com. IT isn't broken. Good luck.

I've got the 775dual vista, and it intermittently doesn't like my sata drive, once it boots its fine, but often takes many attempts, I went through 4 Sata drives before I figured that they can't all be broken, although they all got RMA's approved as fault found.
