Are fans plug into the motherboard quiter than ones pluged straight into the p/s?
Also are the stock gf 7800gt fan noisy? if it is whats a good quiet vga cooler?

Any help would be great, Thanks

Fans plugged into the motherboad and using temperature feedback to control speed are by nature quiter than running at full speed alwlays and save a small amount of power.

I don't know that icute fan but it's probably louder than the SilenX you linked. If you shop around for quiet fans, you'll find SilenX, Nexus, Scythe, Antec, Yate Loon and others. Look at the specs and although you can't use the SPL spec without some reservations, look at the fan RPM spec. Some fans limit the max RPM to keep noise down. Many users would rather use a fan with a higher max RPM, then run their own fan control bus, such as a front panel device like one of these.

I have used both approaches and have also used the mobo to regulate some of my fans.

quite simply, yes... for the longest time i couldnt tolerate mine, at all... just made too much dang noise, lol, till i made the dumb move of just removing it out of intolerance, even though i didnt have a fan to replace it with for awhile :p... but, zalman makes vga coolers that are pretty quiet, and usually do a good job of cooling as well... purchased a zalman VF700-ALCu about 2 weeks ago, works pretty well i think, its not the newest by any means, but it works well nonetheless for temperatures, fairly quiet too.

I have a pair of 120mm Arctic Cooling exhaust fans. They have rubber mounts and are very quiet even at speed. Reasonable price, but no LED.
I also have an Aspire LED 120mm intake fan that is quiet and moves a lot of air. I put in a 80mm fan to draw intake air across the HD cage and also at the GPU. Set up works but the fan is noisier itself than the other 3 at full speed.

Plus, you can get some nice fans cheaper than those auction ones.
