building a new rig...need some help

first of all...this is my first post here...so...HELLO :D
let's get down to business
there are 3 things i'm positive i'll be getting:
Intel Core2 Duo E6400
BFG Geforce7900GS OC
Antec BasiqPower 500U-EC

i'm not sure about mobo and ram because there are so many choices out there
what i'm considering right now is an asus p5b (maybe deluxe?) and 2gb ddr2 800mhz
i would like to hear some opinions about a good mobo (without sli) and what ram goes best with it (preferably some reliable yet cheaper ram even non-kit)

  1. Scrap all 3 of those for sure items..... There are better choices.

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 <--- Exact same as the 6400, just clocked lower. These chips overclock very well.

Video Card: If you're interested in moving to DX10, get an eVGA Geforce 7600GT for now. If you have no interest in DX10, get a 7900GT.

    Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3

    RAM: OCZ Gold 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR2-800
  2. first of all congrats on your first post :trophy:

gpu - i agree with the above about the graphics card. a 7600gt or a 7900gt or maybe even a x1900gt.

cpu - your choise. it depends on if u r gonna OC or not. either way i would get the e6400. ive heard of ppl getting ~3.4GHZ stable out of them.

    m/b - idk

    Ram - Corsair or OCZ 2x1GB ddr2-800
