I'm in a dorm and we have wireless broadband internet here, LinkSys has a wireless adapter for $100 but i don't want to spend that much just to play online. Is there a way i can run an ethernet cord from my computer to the network adapter on my ps2 to play online games? if so how would i do this? Any help is appreciated

Just set your computer up to run ICS and connect them up.

If memory serves the PS2 has a 10/100 nic. You will need a crossover cable from a nic in your computer to the PS2. Enable ICS on your computer and you should be good to go (you may need to enter a static IP on the PS2).
