I have a problem with NFSU2 and wondering if anyone can help me fix it.
When attempting to set up a lan multiplayer game with NFSU2, the
comuters joining all work fine and they show the host and join ok.
However, the host system sits there going "connecting to lobby" for 2
or 3 mins and then "cant find server.... check cable is pluged in."

Have tried hosting on 7 different machines (setting up a lan centre you
see) with different specs and still the same message.

All other network games work fine and the network is fine.
Its like the host tries to connect to itself and cant.
The other systems join the sever ok but then get a "check cable is
plugged in" message as well when the host system does.

Does anyone know what to do about this? I have also installed the 1.1
patch but nothing has changed.

Thankyou

you need to set a default gateway in order to play lan on nfsu2..
the reason why your getting that problem is because NFSU2 connects to the online lobby even for lan games..so if you dont have an account registered with ea games it will just sit there like so..

to set a default gateway (for XP) bring up your start menu, right click network places > go to properties
right click your local area connection > hit status , > properties again , select internet protocol, once that click that next you gotta hit properties while internet protocol is selected.

you should see this now

put in your IP address, but change the last number of your IP
the subnet mask will fill itself in once you click it
default gateway - go to run on the start menu, type CMD and enter, and then type ipconfig and hit enter
you should see your default gateway, put that in..hit ok and close it all..it should ask you to restart your PC
now in order for your friends to play they need to do the exact same thing..everyones PC has to have the same gateway and IP as yours to connect.

note: you will not have any internet connection whatsoever..after you are done playing all you need to do is go back to the internet protocol properties, and hit "Obtain an IP address automatically" and BAM your internet is back :p

if you have any questions my hotmail is menice2society89@hotmail.com
