Intel MBs that support DDR2-1066

Are there any motherboards for Intel Socket 775 and Core2Extreme processors that support DDR2 8500 native? I've got an Asus P5W DH Deluxe now that give you the option in the BIOS to run it at this speed, but it will not boot into windows. I was wondering if there is a MB that supports this speed without it being an Overclock. I have Corsair Dominator XMS2 1066 memory running in my system, but have to have it underclocked to 900 mhz for windows to run with it in this Motherboard. Thanks in advance for any help. One more thing, I would preferably like the MB to be able to run Crossfire.

Make sure your voltage for memory meets the requirement.

All I can say from my small amount of knowledge is that Native support isn't that far up the ladder yet. So far pc-6400 is the highest natively supported memory speed and even that is pushing it because some of the mobo's out there will underclock 800mhz memory down to 667mhz then you still have to overclock the memory to get the full 800mhz that you paid for.

I'll stay in this forums for a while because I too plan on getting the same pc-8500 Corsair Dominator when I build my new system in December.

I do know that the upcoming Revision to the Intel Badaxe (crossfire mobo) will now natively support pc-6400 instead of just pc-5400 on the current intel badaxe, as far as pc-8500 we will just have to wait and see.

The same thing goes for the upcoming Asus P5 crosshair, we will just have to wait and see. (sli mobo)

I did make sure that the voltage was correct at 2.2 volts. I even tried upping the voltage all the way up to 2.4 volts, which allowed me to boot into windows, but kept locking up the system. Do you think that it would be safe to bump the voltage any higher than 2.4?

Do you have the active cooling fans running on the memory, I think you may need...

http://www.corsair.com/corsair/dominator.html

DOMINATOR Airflow fan is designed to be matched with the DOMINATOR heat sinks and allows even more heat to be removed from the DHX XMS2 DOMINATOR modules.

The 1066 pc8500 version doesn't come with the fan. I'm pretty sure it's my motherboard that is not allowing it to run at it's stated speed. Hopefully Intel comes out with a crossfire motherboard that runs 1066 natively.

I too have an asus p5w dh dlx and can not hit ddr2 1066 iether.

I have kingston hyper x pc2 8000 ddr2 and the highest I have yet to hit with it was 916mhz at 2.2v at 5 5 5 5 15

The mobo has to be the weak point here but what i dont understand is how the mobo can hit such a high FSB speed of say 1400mhz but it can not hit ddr2 1066.

So far my fav settings for my 6600 conroe on p5w dh dlx are:

8 x 398 = 3187mhz @1.45v

ddr2 798mhz = 398.4 mhz 1:1 @ 4 4 4 4 12 @ 2.2v

fsb = 1593.6mhz

core temp = 41C with Zalman Heatsink

sandra mem bandwith score = 6698 mb/s

sandra arthimetic cpu score
drystone = 26109
whetstone = 17839

3dmark2001se with an ATI X700Pro = 25,000

I am very happy with these scores temps system stability and performance. I can push the system harder, but the small gains in benchmarks from this point on are not worth the extra stress on the system. Also bios 1407 was a great improvement for me allowing me to drop my multiplier to 8 which gives me a much more stable machine.

Does anyone have a sim setup with a better video card like an ati x1900xt that can do a 3dmark2001se benchmark for me?

i would say my system is similar to yours. except i have a diff mobo and its all at stock settings at the moment. i ran 2001se and got 38,044. i'll try later oc'd to 3 ghz and post again if i see you have replied. my room is a pretty constant 67 degrees and my cpu idles at 32 C.

are you overclocking your ram by adjusting the multiplier? because when you do not have the ram and cpu at 1:1 this can lead to a more unstable setup, anyways i would just try a combination loosing the timings otherwise if you running a core 2 duo you would get the bets performance by running it at a 1:1 with the cpu anyway with the tightest timings you can, i would shoot for 400mhz to run your cpu at ddr2-800 with 3-3-3-x timings
