Hi, newbie here. Trying to built a P4 system. motherboard/CPU/RAM/Video Card only. Will start to boot but will shut down after 1 beep. help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Does the Video card post ? Do the fans spin? Need more info in order to help. Also please state what Hardware you are using.

p.s. Is the mother board in the case? If so have you mounted it properly (so it’s not shorting on the back plate)?

What mobo/Cpu etc are you using?

And why the hell did you buy a P4?!!?!

It has been a while, since P4's were discussed in these forumz, everyone is crazy about c2d's and kentsfield.

It is nice to know that someone out there is still using those "Space Heaters" :lol: (no offence to bb911993)

I know it's odd. but this office computer will be used mostly for word proc. & internet.

Here is the spec.

Intel P4 524 3.06 ghz socket 775
Gigabyte GA-8I865GME-775
MSI fx5200 128mb
Kingston KVR400X64C3A 512mb DDR400 (pc3200)

I really hope there's a hard drive somewhere in that system of yours. If not, there's your problem! :lol:

when you say "start to boot" what exactly do you mean? What shows on the monitor?

Looks like u have a posting problem . I think it is your ram or cpu because a graphics problem is three beeps. Take out your ram first if u hear the same beep u know its that.
