I wasn't quite sure where to put this post on the forum but I figured this is better then other places.

I built my pc this past summer. I've had a few problems along the way, i.e. Power supply going out, bad dvd burner.

But I noticed recently that there is no audio playback when I'm playing DVD's. Does anyone have any ideas to why? music cd's are fine but with dvd's, there isn't any sound.

I got a P5B motherboard and i'm using the onboard sound. My dvd-burner is a LITE-ON 16X DVD±R DVD Burner W/LightScribe and 5X DVD-RAM Write Black ATAPI/E-IDE Model SHM-165H6S. I do have the sound cord running from the dvd burner to my motherboard, otherwise the cd audio wouldn't work either.

So if anyone has any suggestions, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, xJedix

CD Audio and DVD audio don't come through that cable unless it is very old.
Most of the time the data is sent through the IDE cable and is decoded by the processor.

The most likely reason your DVD doesn't have any sound is because you don't have a DVD (audio) decoder.
A free decoder that I use is AC3 Filter.
